A Jew's view from the capital of Israel and the future site of the Third Temple, may it speedily be rebuilt.
That means that we're getting closer to the time when the majority of Jews are here in the Holyland. And when that happens there will be changes. If I'm not mistaken, we will have to resume "yovel."
This is not clear. According to Rambam, at least, it is also necessary that the 12 tribes reside in the land properly apportioned into inheritances. (Otherwise how do you do a yovel? Who do you return the land to?)When the time comes, be"h, we'll see what the halachists make of it!
It sounded like the article just said that Israel has more Jews than any other country - NOT all other countries combined. This seems to be a critical difference.
Read "At Last Zion" by Charles Krauthammer.
David,Thanks. I read it. I don't agree with his thesis that if, G-d forbid, Israel is destroyed that will be the end of Jewry. It is in contradition with the Torah. Other than that it was an interesting article.
I had the same objection. Still it had an internal logic and basically observed that there's a kibbutz golios going on.
