2 of my children don't like Mattisyahu because it's goyish music. Ironic role reversal. (For one I love Goyish music. The wouldn't approve what I listen to.)
My kids couldn't stand it either because
1) It's in English (Even I have a hard time understanding his rapping)
2) The style. One kid even said,"Hu meshuga"(He's crazy).
Being one that grew up on the classic rock of the 60s and 70s, and being an amateur guitar player, I really appreciate what Matisyahu is doing musically. Too often religious music is too goody-goody. Matisyahu is taking a different approach and this is refreshing.
