It's About the Jewish Nation Bill

Why are we going to have new elections? The New York Times says:
Israel’s march toward early elections set out last week with a political row over a nationality bill. This week it morphed into a clash over proposed housing changes and the state budget.

But Israeli political analysts said the call for elections, 20 months after the current coalition was sworn in, was not about nationality or reduced-cost housing or any other issue of ideology or principle.

Instead, they said, Mr. Netanyahu had simply had enough of his fractious coalition partners and wanted a more manageable government made up of rightist allies and the ultra-Orthodox parties he has long considered his natural partners.

“It is not about this law or that,” said Yehuda Ben Meir, a former politician and a public opinion and national security expert at the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University. Noting that there was room for compromise on the nationality bill and that Mr. Netanyahu originally voted in favor of the housing bill, he said the prime minister appeared to have used these issues to force a coalition crisis.

There is no question that the current coalition is not exactly what a Prime Minister dreams of. But it is my opinion that yes, the Jewish Nation Bill was the straw that broke the camels back.

On one hand we should be sad that so much money will be wasted on new elections. On the other hand, the true face of Livni and Lapid, and not to mention politicians further to the left, has been revealed. The law, which more or less gives legal status to a few sentences from Israel's Declaration of Independence, was just too Jewish for these people! They don't want a Jewish State. They want a "State of all of its citizens."

They had agreed to this law in the coalition agreement. They proved to be people who do not keep their word. Let's hope that the Israeli electorate pays these politicians back in kind, and that the next coalition will be proud of being Jewish.

Tzippi Livni's "Discrimination and Racism" Hotline

In case you have not heard:
Following the disclosure of separate days for Jewish and Arab schools at the Superland amusement park, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni announced, Thursday, the opening of a hotline, run by the Justice Ministry's legal-aid department, to deal with inquiries about discrimination or racism. Livni's office said the hotline will provide preliminary information about legal issues related to the inquiries and guidance to relevant authorities, as needed.

Ministry Director-General Guy Rotkopf said, "The Justice Ministry and its various departments will continue uncompromising efforts to eradicate the phenomena of racism and discrimination, which harm all of Israeli society."

Well, somebody decided to take advantage of the hotline. I do not think that these are the kind of complaints that Tzippi expected to hear:

After the Elections: Pics From Election Day

On the border of Givat Shaul and Kiryat Moshe. The poster claims that voting for United Torah Judaism is like making a Yissachar-Zevulun agreement:

A strange way of advertising here in Israel is by throwing pamphlets on the sidewalk and the street. This pamphlet makes fun of those who forbid taking part in the elections by calling them "ingrates":

I don't have the patience to explain this poster. Sorry.

Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef Shlita was omnipresent:

Otzma LeYisrael. Too bad that they did not make it into the Knesset:

The Likud going after the national religious voters:

Outside a polling station in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood. These kids are working for the Jewish Home party. Notice who is featured on the posters: Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan and Uri Ariel:

I headed over to the more secular Beit HaKerem neighborhood. The Jewish Home felt that this is just the place for Ayelet Shaked. The sign says, "Sister, Come home!"

This picture was taken outside a polling station in Beit HaKerem. Along with advertisements for Tzippi Livni and the Jewish Home, there is an advertisement for the Israeli Communist Party:

Here is a very rare sign for Yair Lapid. They ran an unconventional and a surprisingly successful campaign:

All that is left now is to clean up all the mess and form a coalition!

Jewish Home Party Videos

It looks like the surprise of this year's elections is going to be the Jewish Home party under the leadership of Naftali Bennett. I thought that I would post a few interesting videos of Jewish Home candidates.

In this video, Naftali Bennett squares off against Tzippi Livni. It's in Hebrew (LOL at what Bennett says at 6:50. He's talking about this guy. Bennett also puts Livni in her place at 7:50.):

This is Naftali Bennett's stability initiative - Doing what's good for Israel:

Jeremy Gimpel vs. Limor Livnat (Rabbi Gimpel has a good chance of making it into the Knesset according to the latest polls):

What's New in Lebanon?

Olmert is out of politics, Livni is in the opposition, but the legacy of the bungled Second Lebanon War lives on. From the IDF Spokesperson's Unit:
On October 12, 2009, there was an explosion at a Hezbollah weapons storehouse in Tayr Filsay, in southern Lebanon. This aerial footage, taken shortly after the explosion, shows Hezbollah operatives closing down the area around the warehouse, driving in two trucks and removing weaponry from the site. They then took the weapons to a known weapons storage facility in the center of the village of Dir a-Nahar about four kilometers away. Only after Hezbollah removed the weaponry did they allow UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army to enter the site of the explosion. The IDF has sumbitted the footage to UNIFIL to aid in their investigation of the incident.

Zot Channuka

There are a million things to write about. I just don't have the time. If you want to know what's going on check out Jameel and Dave who are liveblogging the war. I just hope that they don't send in ground troops. It is not good to die for Olmert, Livni, Barak or Abu Mazen. On the other hand, if the government wants to drive the Arabs out of the Gaza Strip and return this part of the land of Israel to its rightful owners, the nation of Israel, I'm all for it.

Peace House Expulsion

I've been much to busy to blog this week. However I have to express my disgust with the Israeli Government and Judicial System for the great injustice inflicted on the residents and the true owners of the Peace House in Hebron. Here's a pic of the house that I took before the expulsion:

Olmert, Barak, Livni and all those that took part in the expulsion are just deepening their abode in hell.

Big Sister Tzippi is Watching You

When I see this kind of advertising campaign I wonder what was the advertising agency thinking of. Who are they trying to appeal to? Is this an appeal to people that immigrated to Israel from dictatorships, and just can't get through the day without seeing a pictures of their authoritarian leader plastered up all over the place?

The sign says, "Tzippi Livni, what's good for the country.

Don't these signs just make you want to vote for Kadima?

I think that they better start working on another campaign.
