Elections Coming Up In Israel [yawn]

I can't say that I am excited about the upcoming elections. Experience has taught me that Israeli politicians, once elected, often execute a policy that is opposed to what they promised their voters. We need to look no further than the current Prime Minister and what he did to the Jewish communities in the Gaza Strip to be reminded of this painful fact. Add to this the presence of the judicial dictatorship (see previous post), and you have a recipe for voter apathy.

In the past disenchanted and/or apathetic citizens would spend election day at the beach or at a picnic. This time the elections will be in the winter. Hmmm, it's been a while since I've been to Eilat.

My wife told me yesterday that she heard on the radio that Sharon wants elections in February since he's already won 2 elections in February before.

Sort of reminds me of Pharoh asking his magicians for advice...or Haman with his lottery. And this guy is the PRIME MINISTER.

*sigh* Eilat does sound nice...maybe we should have a J-Bloggers BBQ that day :-)

I just thought of another idea. Eilat is a five hour drive. We can escape the cold by going down to the Dead Sea...less than an hour away. We can get all the stuff ready the night before, go and vote (with barfbag handy), and travel.

Cosmic - I'm an hour north of Jerusalem...so it'll take me a bit longer.
