How could anyone be excited about such a prospect? ...the son of yordim to bat.
I was once asked by a Leluver Hassid, "When Mashiah comes, what will he say?"
My response was that he's ask us why we left all of the work for him to do.
We don't pray to HaShem that Obama will be good for the Jews and Israel. We pray that HaShem will go easy on us, and accelerate the Ge'ulah process.
Obama is only a kli, to be used as HaShem sees fit.

Your points are well taken. I was taken in by Yaak's bitahon, which was in contrast to some hysterical reactions that I saw elsewhere.
