Tzippi Livni's "Discrimination and Racism" Hotline

In case you have not heard:

Following the disclosure of separate days for Jewish and Arab schools at the Superland amusement park, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni announced, Thursday, the opening of a hotline, run by the Justice Ministry's legal-aid department, to deal with inquiries about discrimination or racism. Livni's office said the hotline will provide preliminary information about legal issues related to the inquiries and guidance to relevant authorities, as needed.

Ministry Director-General Guy Rotkopf said, "The Justice Ministry and its various departments will continue uncompromising efforts to eradicate the phenomena of racism and discrimination, which harm all of Israeli society."

Well, somebody decided to take advantage of the hotline. I do not think that these are the kind of complaints that Tzippi expected to hear:

Torat HaMelech 7

Rabbi Gil Student actually read "Torat HaMelech" and provides his analysis. The post and the talkbacks are interesting. Unfortunately Rabbi Student falls into the trap of trying to be "politically correct" by misusing the term "racist" and applying it to the book. I previously wrote about another misuse of this term here.

Obama calls to 'End the Occupation'

That was the headline here. I guess he wants to give America back to the Indians. I'm not sure if the Lenape want New Jersey back.

Okay, this is what he really said:

United States President Barack Obama issued a stinging condemnation of the Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria on Wednesday in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly. The U.S. “does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements,” Obama announced.

Using unusually harsh terminology, Obama called to "end the occupation that began in 1967" - referring to Israel's control of Judea and Samaria.

What Obama is saying is that he thinks Judea and Samaria should be judenrein. Sorry Mr. BO, but Jews have more of a right to live in the land of Israel than you have to live in the United States. As far as I am concerned, Obama the fake messiah can take his racist policies back to Kenya.

Rot In The Heart

Today is Yom HaShoah. More than 50 years have gone by but nothing has really changed. The same hatred of Jews that permitted the massacre of six million still stirs in the hearts of many. If in the years following the Holocaust people were embarrassed to publicize that this hatred dwells in their hearts, today this is no longer true. Too bad for the Jew haters. The rot that dwells within them harms themselves most of all.

Speaking of rotten hearts, it seems that tree lovers all over the world (including in Israel) only get up in arms when they think that settlers cut down trees belonging to Arabs. However, when trees belonging to Jews get felled by Arabs they are silent.

Of Binocular Caps And Such

I really don't want to blog about this. I mean, this is really embarrassing. But perhaps we can learn a little bit of mussar from this: Don't be a fake. Don't pretend that everything is alright when it is clearly not. Don't be embarrassed to ask for help when needed. Don't be like Gideon Levy, who thinks that the mockery that Peretz evokes is connected to racism:

Indeed, let's call a spade a spade: The mockery of Peretz derives from racism. There is no other way to explain the systematic ridicule of his character: his English, his awkward pinning of ranks on the chief of staff, and the covered binoculars. This could happen to anyone, but we laugh at him.

Street named after Kahane irks residents Ynetnews

Ynetnews descends to new lows with this article, accusing Rabbi Meir Kahane z"l of racism. Apparently they believe that if you repeat a lie enough times then it becomes truth:

All of this well-documented racist behavior, however, didn't stop Or Akiva from naming a street in his honor, causing residents to respond with outrage.

I've already blogged that Rabbi Kahane was not a racist. Not only that, but here is the "documentation" mentioned in the article:

Kahane founded Kach, a party which advocated transferring Palestinians out of the territories for monetary compensation and annexing those territories as part of an ideology believing in the concept of 'a greater Israel .'

The party won one seat in the 1984 Knesset and was subsequently banned from participating in future elections after the Election Law was amended to bar lists that incite racism.

He also founded the Jewish Defense League (JDL), which is listed by the FBI as a terrorist group.

Kahane was murdered by El Sayyid Nosair in 1990 after a speech in New York.

Wow, what great documentation!

The remarks of the mayor of Or Akiva contradict the entire essence of the article:

Or Akiva Mayor Simcha Yosifuv responded to the outcry on Monday, saying that "the decision to name a street after him was made 15 years ago. I wasn't the mayor then. It's a dead-end alley and in the four years I've been mayor not a single person has come forward to complain about it.

"He was a Jew who was murdered by fanatics because of his opinions. If any resident has a problem with the street we will bring the matter to the city council for discussion."
